Pencil study of detail from Rembrandts, " Suicide of Lucretia "

kevin gough www.goughpaint.blogspot.com

Recently I have started using an oil based pencil between the layers of graphite,
its only an experiment but I think it helps to give a better sense of atmosphere.
I have realized though that this is also a pencil that may ruin a work if used too heavily.

Thanks for looking :)

listen....

Drawing by kevin gough www.goughpaint.blogspot.com

This was drawn using minen leads and an oil pitt pencil.
I have been on the lookout for something smoother than the pitt graphite
and I think that I may have found it . The oil pitt pencil is a little sticky
but provides good cover if handled lightly. When I say lightly
I mean only using the weight of the pencil itself.

A couple of plein air sketches..

I got involved this week with the Plein Eire group's, seven day drawing challenge.
Complete a plein air drawing each day for one week.
Of the  drawings I managed to fit in, these I think, are my favorites.

Both were completed using Derwent pencils, and a medium oil pitt
on 160lb acid free cartridge.

Thanks for looking :)
